Concept: Wildlight Canopy

CLIENT NAME: Colorado State University

PROJECT DATE: Fall 2025

Project Brief

The Wildlight Canopy pediatric clinic project presents a restorative, nature-inspired healthcare environment designed to transform the clinical journey for children and their families. Inspired by the concept of a sheltering forest, the design utilizes biophilic principles and soft geometric forms to establish a safe, supportive atmosphere that prioritizes patient well-being. To capture this identity, the interior translates the “Wildlight” narrative into curated moments, from circular “canopy” ceiling features with integrated lighting to a gentle material palette of forest greens, meadow tones, and natural wood. The technical execution focuses on a high-performance acoustic design approach, utilizing custom wildlife murals crafted from recycled felt and PET-based paneling to define the space’s character. These murals serve as functional art, significantly reducing noise in high-traffic waiting rooms and hallways while providing friendly, abstracted animal forms to engage young visitors. By integrating diverse zones, from high-turnover reception areas to private consultation rooms, the layout ensures a seamless, accessible journey that balances rigorous clinical criteria with a playful, biophilic presence in the healthcare environment.
